Portfolio: ๐ผ UX Related Career Experience
Currently seeking #nocode Developer, Content Producer/Manager or UX Designer rolesIt seems I've been focused on the user experience all my life because of my need to anticipate how my audience would react. Though I fear being too remedial, I never want to assume a user's understanding.
TileLetter.com
I was a team of 1 contracted for a complete redesign of their site in WordPress which launched January 2021. I reformatted the existing website to focus on searchability, clean aesthetics and reader sharing.
The project was lean and budget conscious, allowing for only a few hours' work per week over the course of 9 months.
Though not a UX specific role, I spent the first 3 months on user research. You can see my complete process board on Miro.
Without a development resource, I chose an appropriate theme and tweaked existing plugins for desired functionality.
Daltile.com
Subject Matter Expert role for brand & assets representing the Marketing department on the website & database redesign and asset migration to Adobe AEM/DAM. I spent most of 2019 working on this project.
As the branding expert, the UX designer and I designed the style guide with approved colors, fonts and logos.
I worked directly with developers to solve feature requests that would allow for flexibility through CSS, container code or image resizing.
I coordinated with database teams to use strict file nomenclature and folder structure to automate the extraction and linking of data and images.
I strategized with leadership on using assets to serve all channels, platforms and users corporate-wide.
Asset Bank - internal site
As Digital Asset Manager, I tailored the internal browser-based image and asset distribution portal to meet user needs after studying the client base. Growth increased from 1-2 users per month to 3-5 users per day.
A strict file nomenclature and folder structure informed users of image contents and locations.
Adding keywords, synonyms and metadata allowed anyone to quickly find the exact image they needed.
Designing and installing an easy-to-read user manual on the home page assisted in the onboarding process.

UX I Learned from my Service Background
Retail
Satisfying the customer is the first thing I was taught.
I learned to delight customers as I gained design experience.
In-person interactions with thousands of customers taught me to never make assumptions.
Management
Managing sales, labor and inventory in a retail shop showed me where you should and shouldn't cut to maintain profitability.
Designing and implementing promotional programs taught me to avoid failure by putting lots of thought into desired behavior and anticipated reactions.
Leading groups of volunteers as an Assistant Art Director taught me to verbally connect and delegate to teams of different skill levels and backgrounds.
Design
Creating templates and styles is crucial for fast redesign with others regardless of the amount of content.
Understanding technical requirements will allow you to convert any design you're given into printed or digital assets.
Graphic Design's typography & color visuals are useless without careful thought and understanding of the speaker, message & audience.
My background in Design and Marketing helps me effectively communicate and execute the goals of a business, and my understanding of the development process allows me to suggest flexible structure, error prevention and time saving measures. My goal is to work with a diverse team of UX professionals to both learn from and grow with. I'd love to work for a company actually doing some good and helping people while I'm at it.Dream come true if the company culture embraces Halloween ๐
